LumenARRT! is a project of the Union of Maine Visual Artists (UMVA) and was founded to artistically amplify the work of progressive non-profits in the state of Maine. Our large-scale video projections create a visual experience and like electronic graffiti, bring awareness to issues of social, economic, and environmental justice.
Our collective involves diverse local artists, making decisions together and partnering with community groups. We are working with artists on a variety of issues and hope to have actual public interaction with people on the streets in the near future!
In February we projected in Portland on the issue of providing hazard pay for essential workers with Progressive Portland, the Southern Maine Workers Center, and the Democratic Socialists of America. The projection at Portland City Hall was calling on City Council to enforce the initiative passed by voters.
